Setting up an indicator for Deep Corruption

First go to your Debuffs tab and then hit the custom button on the right side. You’ll get the panel shown above. Deep Corruption is on the dropdown menu.

Don't forget to check STACKS!

Don’t forget to check off “Stacks” so you can see the number of stacks of the debuff.

Setting the location of the indicator

Next click on the Visuals button on the left to get the panel shown above. This panel lets you set the location of the debuff indicator as well as its size. I’m putting it on the upper right corner of the unit frame.

FTA is a 10M raiding guild focused on progression through the game’s highest tier content. We have three 10 man raid teams that are at various stages of progression and raid on different nights.

• Rock Lobsters: Currently 7/8N. Raids Monday and Wednesday 7-10pm. Looking for people to fill in some bench positions.
• Team C: Just recently formed. Currently 4/8N and raids on Thursdays 7:30-10. This team has a couple of slots open that need to be filled. Need 1 Healer, 1 DPS, and a few subs.

Rusted Proto-drake

Last night From The Ashes got a group of players together to travel into the frozen reaches of Northrend.  Together we completed all of the achievements required to get the Glory of the Ulduar Raider achievement and the Rusted Proto-drake. I was surprised by how easy it was at this gear level. We were completely done in a little over 3 hours and each of us had brand new shiny rusty drakes.

With the release of patch 4.3.2 on the PTR Blizzard has given us a 64 bit client. This is not currently available for live servers. But may be available when 4.3.2 goes live. With that in mind it’s very simple to install.

You can download the 64 bit client here.

Unzip the files and drop all of them in your WOW folder. One of the files is named WoW-64.exe. Run that to start your game.

UPDATE (1/11/12) : The new 64 bit client doesn’t have a patcher with it yet, so everytime they release a patch you have to download a new 64 bit client manually. At least until they get it integrated into the patcher system.

Since patch 4.3 went live the market for gems has improved quite a lot making a World of Warcraft add-on like “Routes” extremely useful. What routes does is take node information from a mod like Gatherer and figures out the shorted path to visit each of those nodes. For the CS/IT/Programmer folks out there, it figures out the “Traveling Salesman Problem” for you. It works for mining and herbing nodes as well as a few other things.

First things first. You will need information about node locations. The easiest way to do that is to already have run Gatherer for a while. Gatherer keeps the information about node locations in a format that Routes can read. Gathermate is another add on that does this but I haven’t used it. Also if you want you can get the Wowhead GathererDB, which has all of Wowhead’s node information in it.

Once you have node information it’s pretty easy to set up the Routes add on.

1. Type /routes to bring up the configuration panel. You’ll be asked to name the route so that it can be saved. In this case I picked “Ore” since that’s what we’ll be using this route for. Once you’ve named it, click the Okay button.

2.  Scroll down a bit on the panel and you’ll see options to select what type of nodes the add on will use for this route. I selected the ore that I want to mine in this zone. Click the “Create Route” button just under the selections that you made.

At this point if you look at your main map you’ll see a tangle of weird lines all over your map. DON’T PANIC! We haven’t optimized the route yet. That’s the next step

3.  If you need to bring the panel up again, type /routes. On the left side of the panel is a list of all of the zones that you have routes for. Expand the zone that you’re in and select the route that you just created. In this case “Twilight Highlands” and “Ore.” That brings up the settings for your route. On the top right hand side click the “Optimize Route” tab to bring up your optimization options.

4. The default settings are usually fine. I have “Extra Optimization” checked but it isn’t really needed. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click the “Background” button under the Background section. This is your safest bet as it does its computations in the background letting Wow do its functions as well. If you click Foreground then Routes takes all of your resources while it figures out the shortest path and if a large number of nodes are in the zone, you may be disconnected from the server.

Now you should have a nice path to follow when you bring up your map. The path is also visible on the mini-map so it makes flying that path very easy. You just follow the line on the mini-map.

5. There are a number of optional setting that you can play around with like changing the color and width of the line. I changed this route to Orange so that I could tell the difference between my Ore route and my Herbs route.

That’s it! Now you just have to follow the route and gather your resources!

LFR Tier 13 Priest set

Build 15005 was deployed on the PTR servers recently. They have changed the drop rate of valor points in raids.

Dragon Soul bosses, both 10 man and 25 man, now drop 100 valor points (Down from 115 and 135)

Firelands bosses will be reduced to 50 vp per boss since they are no longer the highest tier.

I just checked and as of right now heroics still award 150 valor points.

That’s all subject to change of course.

We’ve made slight adjustments to the Valor Point (VP) drops on the 4.3 PTR which testers can now see. In both 10- and 25-player raids, bosses will now drop 100 VP each (down from 115 and 135 respectively). We’ll also be changing Firelands raid bosses to drop 50 VP per kill upon release of the patch.

This change is being made to further emphasize the desire to kill bosses for the items they drop. In the 4.3 raid, tier sets can only be earned from boss drops, and as Raid Finder will allow for just about anyone to get a chance to kill bosses, we think there will be less need for Valor overall. We want to try to match the lower desire for VP with a slightly slower acquisition rate.

Darkmoon Faire Island

The Darkmoon Faire has folded up it’s tents for another month and I did confirm that Grisly Trophies can still be collected as long as you still have your field guide in your inventory. So if you didn’t finish the Test Your Strength quest you can turn it in next month. Or you can save them up.

It looks like you can earn a total of 205 Darkmoon tickets in the one week period that the fair is up. This is not including any quests, like “The Darkmoon Faire,” that you can only do once.

Breaking it Down

You can do each of the game quests daily.  There are 6 Profession quests that you can do once during the Darkmoon Faire week, and finally the Test Your Strength quest.

Daily Quests

There are 5 dailies and they each reward you with 5 tickets each. For a total of 25 per day. Multiplied by 7 days is a total of 175 tickets from Daily quests.

Hammer Time aka Whack-A-Gnoll (5 Tickets)
He Shoots, He Scores (5 tickets)
The Humanoid Cannonball (5 tickets)
Tonk Commander (5 tickets)
Target: Turtle (5 tickets)

25 tickets from daily quest X 7 days = 175 tickets

There are also 6 Profession quests that you can do once during the week. They award you with 4 tickets if it’s a primary profession or 3 tickets if it’s a secondary profession.

Profession Quests

Banners, Banners, Everywhere (Tailoring, 4 tickets)
Putting Trash to a Good Use (Enchanting, 4 tickets)
Putting the Crunch in the Frog (Cooking, 3 tickets)
Spoiling for Salty Sea Dogs (Fishing, 3 tickets)
Putting the Carnies Back Together (First Aid, 3 tickets)
Fun For the Little Ones (Archaeology, 3 tickets)

For a total of 20 tickets at one time per week = 20 tickets (Each of those quests also giver you a +5 skill up in that profession)

Test Your Strength

You can do this quest once during Darkmoon Faire week and it rewards you with 10 tickets.

Caveats

Now we’ve seen from data mining that there are other PvE quests that open up later. I presume that these open up with higher reputation from the Darkmoon Faire. So it is possible that with higher reputation you could earn more tickets. Also there are those three tents that are labeled “Under Construction.” So there may be room for more ticket earning there as well.

Remember this is information from the PTR and may change before the patch goes live.

Darkmoon Faire

Yesterday I reported that I only got 5 Grisly Trophies when running an instance and that if the drop rate was that low it was going to take a really long time to complete the “Test Your Strength” quest from the Darkmoon Faire.

Now with another day of testing under my belt it seems that you’ll definitely be able to complete the quest in one week’s time. Especially if you’re grinding out daily quests. The quest says that you’ll have a chance of getting a trophy when you kill mobs that will give you XP or rep. “Kill” being the key word here. It’s been reported that in order to get the trophy you have to land the killing blow on the target. In an instance that can be very difficult, especially if you’re a healer.

However, I went and did Molten Front Dailies today and bagged 41 more trophies. Since I was soloing I landed the killing blow on all of the mobs. And my trophy count was much higher.

So it seems to me that grinding out daily quests by yourself is perhaps a better way to gather trophies. Molten Front was good. I’m guessing that the Therazane and Dragonmaw dailies would also be good.

Now it looks like completing this quest within the one week time period is completely doable. Just make sure that you pick up the field guide and the quest at the beginning of the week so you have more time to finish it.
