Get To Da Choppa!

Most of the things engineers can make in Wrath of the Lich King are just upgrades to items we’ve been making all along.  There are a few exceptions like the portable mail box and the Gnomish Army Knife. The one thing everyone seems to be interested in is the motorcycle.

Get to da Choppa!

Get to da Choppa!

Mekgineer’s Chopper (Alliance)
450 Engineering Skill Required
Exalted Reputation with the Alliance Vangard.
Cost: 360 gold for the schematic.
Available from: Logistics Officer Silverstone, Alliance Vangard Quartermaster, in Valiance Keep, Borean Tundra.

Mechano-hog (Horde)
450 Engineering Skill Required
Exalted reputation with the Horde Expedition
Cost: 380 gold for the schematic
Available from: Gora Skullcrush, Horde Expedition Quartermaster, Warsong Hold, Borean Tundra

Both Require: Titansteel Bar (12), Handful of Cobalt Bolts (40), Arctic Fur (2), Salvaged Iron Golem Parts, Goblin-machined Piston (8), Elementium-plated Exhaust Pipe

I’m not sure why there is a difference in price. Maybe my reputation is different on my Alliance toon.  It’s beta so it will probably change.

These are both Bind on Equip items so you can sell them to people.  You do not have to be an engineer to drive one.  They also can carry a passenger in the fold down side car. When you own one of these babies you get the “Get to the Choppa!” achievement.

  1. Woohoo! Thanks for the update. 😀

So all things considered, what would you expect as far as the crafting cost vs. auction pricing? Gotta be incredibly expensive.

Have any choppers shown up on the AH?

For some reason I’m imagining dealerships springing up in WoW, with deals on payment plans and interest rates.

Also, not wild about the potential rep grind to get the specs, but I guess that adds to the rarity.

  2. Incredibly expensive is about as far as I can go right now. The AH prices on the beta server are completely over inflated right now because MOST of the testers are 70 and above. We’ll just have to wait and see what happens when it goes live.

I haven’t seen any bikes on the AH yet. Materials are very expensive. Plus Blizz was almost giving them away to test them out. So just about everyone has one.

  3. There’s three (as I recall) vendor-sold components, each of them pretty pricy, plus there’s a long cooldown on all the Titansteel bars required. I wouldn’t expect to see these going for cheap for a very long time, if ever.

  4. *Cue fail music*
Cooldowns? This does not bode well. My tailoring character remains at 357 because I really loathe working around cooldowns. 😦

Ah well, every profession has got to have them at some point, I guess.
